Bonus Schemes
The above figures do not include bonuses which can be up to 30% of the annual salary, and is generally based on a combination of individual merit and firm-wide performance.
Taxation
There are different tax rates depending on your filing status – single, married filing jointly, married filing separately and head of household. The tax rates are progressive and begin at 10% with the highest being 35% for income over US$357,701 (unless you are married filing separately in which case it is US$178,851).
Superannuation
There is no compulsory superannuation scheme.
Relocation Assistance
Most firms will provide some form of relocation assistance in addition to a basic annual salary. This could include any of the following:
- One way airfare for you and your family
- 2 to 4 weeks temporary accommodation upon arrival either at a serviced apartment or a hotel
- A shipping allowance which comprises reasonable costs of relocating your personal belongings against receipts
