What - More Exams?
Australia
You may practise as a foreign lawyer in Australia provided that you are registered as a foreign lawyer with the relevant legal practitioners admission board, however you can only practise the law of the jurisdiction you are admitted in therefore you will be known as a foreign legal consultant. In order to practise Australian law, you will need to requalify.
As each state and territory in Australia will have their own legislation, the process of requalifying will also vary from state to state. Those wishing to practise in Australia will also need to attend in person at the Supreme Court to obtain your official certificate. You will need to contact the Law Societies and Bar Associations in each State and Territory to obtain up to date information on admission requirements.
