Australia is the sixth largest country in the world. If you are coming from Europe, the cost of living in Australia is less, however the lower salaries in comparison and the high tax rates may balance this out. As in any city, individual lifestyle will have a bearing on how much you spend. Generally housing will be your greatest cost. A decent two bedroom apartment in Surry Hills may rent out at A$600 per week, whilst the equivalent in the trendy Inner West area such as Five Dock can range from A$450 per week.

Australia is known for its fresh seafood and variety of international cuisine. The price of eating out can vary depending on whether your taste is for fine dining or casual eateries.

Sydney is the most expensive Australian city to live in, followed by Melbourne, Brisbane, then Perth.

The climate of Australia, like its geography, varies widely. The northern part of the country has a tropical climate with temperatures reaching up to 36°C in summer, whilst the south east and south west corners have a temperate climate with temperatures averaging 28°C in summer, and 14°C in winter. The largest part of Australia however is desert or semi-arid.

What is the cost of living
 

The cost of living in New Zealand is generally lower compared to other countries, as housing is very reasonably priced due to the low population. This will vary depending on where you choose to live. Auckland is the most expensive city to live in, with it being more affordable the further south you travel.

Rental costs for a standard unfurnished 3 bedroom house can range from NZ$375 to NZ$600 per week in Auckland, compared to Wellington which is less expensive at NZ$340 to NZ$375 per week.

Consumer goods in New Zealand are also fresh and comparatively cheap. The country is known for its fresh fruit, vegetables, lamb, seafood and poultry. Transportation is easily accessible, convenient and reasonable.

The north of New Zealand is subtropical and the south temperate. The warmest months are December, January and February, and the coldest June, July and August.

In summer, the average maximum temperature ranges between 20-30ºC and in winter between 10-15ºC.
